Get the free appWhy collectors look for a Collectr alternative
Collectr covers more than 25 card games and tracks raw cards, graded slabs and sealed product in portfolios "charted over time like a stock portfolio", with cost basis and gains. That breadth is its strength. The reasons collectors look elsewhere are usually one of these:
- Scan limits. Scanning is limited on the free plan, and Collectr does not publish how many free scans you get. Unlimited scanning is part of Collectr PRO at $7.99 a month or $59.99 a year.
- Unnamed price sources. Collectr says cards are "valued daily from real sales data" but does not say which marketplaces. If you want to see eBay, TCGplayer or Cardmarket prices separately, you need an app that names them.
- Price history and export behind PRO. More than five years of price history, advanced filters and collection export are PRO features.
- Pokémon depth. A generalist app covers many games at the same depth. Pokémon-only apps add things like master set tracking with every variant and secret rare.
- European prices. Collectors in Europe often want Cardmarket prices in euros rather than US market values.
If none of these bother you, Collectr is a good app to stay with, especially if you collect more than one game.

Choose Collectr if you collect several games or want to track what you paid against what your collection is worth today. Choose Cardex if you collect Pokémon and want to know what a card is really worth before you buy, sell or grade it.
1. Cardex: best Collectr alternative for Pokémon prices
Best for: Pokémon collectors who want to see the whole market for a card, not one blended number.
Cardex identifies the exact card, set, collector number, rarity and variant from your camera, and automatic scanning moves through a stack without restarting. Every card shows its raw price with eBay, TCGplayer and Cardmarket side by side, graded PSA, CGC and BGS prices with population data, recent eBay sold listings and price history. Scanned cards go into a collection tracker with binders, a watchlist and master set progress for every expansion, including secret rares and variants. Version 2.3 added AI Grading, which estimates a card's grade from two photos before you send it in, and sealed products such as booster boxes and Elite Trainer Boxes with prices and price history.
Pricing: Cardex is free to download and includes 3 free scans. Searching cards, checking raw prices and browsing sealed products is free; unlimited scanning, graded prices, AI Grading and the full list of recent eBay sales come with Cardex Premium (weekly, yearly or lifetime plans, with a free trial).
Where Collectr is better: other games and cost basis tracking. Cardex is Pokémon only, and its sealed products (booster boxes, Elite Trainer Boxes and more) are Pokémon only too.
You can also browse every Pokémon set's card list and current value on our Pokémon card sets pages without installing anything.
2. Shiny: best free multi-game alternative
Best for: collectors who want Collectr's multi-game coverage without paying for scans.
Shiny scans Pokémon (English, Japanese and Chinese), Magic, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Lorcana and more, and is free on iOS and Android with no premium tier mentioned. Values draw on TCGplayer and eBay completed sales, plus PriceCharting for graded slabs and sealed products. Collection tools include sets, folders, tags, wishlists, cross-device sync and price alerts.
Trade-off: Cardmarket is not listed as a source, so euro pricing is weaker, and there is less Pokémon-specific depth such as master set tracking.
3. TCGplayer app: best for selling
Best for: anyone who sells on TCGplayer and wants a free scanner across every game.
The official TCGplayer app scans cards from any game sold on the marketplace and shows the TCGplayer Market Price, built from sales on the site. It is completely free with no scanning subscription and connects directly to buying and listing.
Trade-off: one marketplace's view, no graded prices and no eBay sold data. It is US-centric, and its collection tools are basic next to Collectr's portfolios.
4. Dex: best design and web access
Best for: Pokémon collectors who want a polished collection app with a browser version.
Dex covers English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese Pokémon sets, with prices from TCGplayer, Cardmarket, CardTrader and eBay converted to your currency. The free tier includes every card, all marketplaces, three folders, a trade finder and wishlists, and it runs in a web browser.
Trade-off: the camera scanner is part of Dex+ at $3.99 a month, so free users search by name. Graded prices and sold listings are not stated.
5. PokeScope: simplest free price check
Best for: a quick free look-up with no sign-up.
PokeScope is a free Pokémon scanner with no account required, showing TCGplayer, Cardmarket and auction prices. It includes a collection manager with spreadsheet export, price alerts, a trade calculator and offline access to cached prices.
Trade-off: graded prices are not stated, and its database of around 20,000 cards is smaller than the full Pokémon TCG.
6. Ripdex: fast batch scanning
Best for: cataloguing a whole binder in one session.
Ripdex identifies cards on the device in under a second and supports batch scanning with a running total. Prices are TCGplayer market data with a 90-day history chart. Scanning is free, with a premium subscription for unlimited scanning and collection features.
Trade-off: a single price source, no graded prices and no eBay sold data.
7. Eyevo: offline recognition in eight languages
Best for: collectors who scan without a connection or own cards in several languages.
Eyevo recognizes cards on the device, so it works offline, and distinguishes sets, languages, variants and reprints across eight languages. It shows raw, graded and sold prices and exports the collection to CSV.
Trade-off: its pricing model, scan limits and full list of price sources are not stated on its website.
Try Cardex alongside Collectr
Scan the same cards in both apps and compare the prices against recent eBay sales. Cardex shows eBay, TCGplayer and Cardmarket on one screen, with graded prices next to the raw price.
Which Collectr alternative should you choose?
- You only collect Pokémon and care about accurate prices: Cardex, for three marketplaces and graded prices on one screen.
- You collect several games and do not want to pay for scans: Shiny or the TCGplayer app.
- You sell on TCGplayer: the TCGplayer app, then check eBay sold prices for anything valuable.
- You are in Europe: an app with Cardmarket data, such as Cardex, Dex or PokeScope.
- You want a web version: Dex or Ripdex.
- You track several games and cost basis in one portfolio: stay with Collectr.
The fastest way to decide is to scan the same ten cards in two apps and compare both against recent eBay sold listings. The app whose numbers match real sales is the one to keep. For the full eight-app comparison, see our guide to the best Pokémon card scanner apps.
Collectr alternative questions
Is Collectr free?
Collectr is free to download and its free plan includes portfolios, search and showcase features across 25+ card games. Scanning is limited on the free plan; unlimited scanning, 5+ years of price history, advanced filters and export require Collectr PRO at $7.99 a month or $59.99 a year. Collectr does not publish the exact number of free scans.
What is the best free alternative to Collectr?
For free scanning with no subscription, the TCGplayer app, Shiny and PokeScope all scan cards at no cost according to their own listings. TCGplayer and Shiny also cover several games, as Collectr does. None of them shows graded and raw prices from three marketplaces side by side the way Cardex does, so the best choice depends on whether you need free scans or deeper Pokémon pricing.
Does Collectr show eBay sold prices?
Collectr says cards are valued daily from real sales data but does not name the marketplaces it uses, and eBay sold listings are not listed as a feature. Cardex, Shiny and Eyevo show sold or completed sales according to their own feature lists.
Can I move my Collectr collection to another app?
Collectr's export is a PRO feature. Most other apps, including Cardex, cannot import a Collectr export directly, so the practical way to switch is to rescan your cards. Apps with automatic or batch scanning, such as Cardex and Ripdex, make rescanning a binder much faster.
Is Collectr or Cardex better for Pokémon cards?
Collectr is better if you collect several games or want cost basis and gains like a stock portfolio. Cardex is better if you only collect Pokémon and want to see eBay, TCGplayer and Cardmarket prices on one screen, graded PSA, CGC and BGS prices next to the raw price, and master set progress for every expansion. Both track sealed product; Cardex covers Pokémon sealed products only.
