Most valuable Pokémon sets overall
The top of the list is dominated by sets from 2001 to 2007. Print runs were a fraction of today's, most cards were played with rather than sleeved, and surviving near-mint copies are scarce. Two card types from that period carry a lot of weight: the e-Card era's crystal-type and secret rares, and the EX era's Gold Star (☆) cards, which were pulled at very low rates.

Most valuable modern sets (Scarlet & Violet and Mega Evolution)
Modern sets are printed in far larger numbers, so their commons and uncommons are almost worthless. What separates them is the chase cards at the back of the set: Special Illustration Rares and other high-rarity cards of popular Pokémon. 30th Celebration, Ascended Heroes and Prismatic Evolutions lead because their top cards — Mew, Pikachu ex and Umbreon ex — sell for far more than the chase cards of most other modern sets.

If you are deciding which modern set to collect, a higher set value means a more expensive set to complete, not a better investment. Our guide to rarity symbols and what each rarity is worth shows where that value usually sits.
Most valuable vintage sets (1999 to 2003)
The Wizards of the Coast era, from Base Set to Skyridge. Here the late e-Card sets outrank the famous early ones: Skyridge and Aquapolis came out at the end of Wizards' run with much smaller print runs, while Base Set, Jungle and Fossil were printed in enormous numbers. Values use each card's main printing; 1st Edition and Shadowless copies of the early sets sell for much more.

Sets where one card is most of the value
In some sets a single chase card makes up a large share of the total. Completing these sets is mostly a question of whether you are willing to buy that one card.

What set value does not tell you
- It is not the price of a booster box. Sealed product is priced separately and depends on what collectors expect to pull, not on the singles market alone.
- It is not the cost of a master set. Collecting every reverse holo and alternate printing costs more than the one-of-each total shown here.
- Condition changes everything. These are near-mint prices. Played copies sell for less, and graded copies of the chase cards can sell for several times more. See our condition guide and raw vs graded prices.
- Prices move. Newly released sets are especially volatile in their first months. This page is refreshed every day.
Frequently asked questions
What is the most valuable Pokémon card set?
By the combined near-mint value of its cards, Skyridge (2003) is currently the most valuable English Pokémon set at about $32,453, followed by Aquapolis ($14,635) and Neo Destiny ($14,012). Values are updated daily from market data.
What is the most valuable modern Pokémon set?
Among Scarlet & Violet and Mega Evolution sets, 30th Celebration is worth the most at about $11,302, ahead of Ascended Heroes ($4,733) and Prismatic Evolutions ($4,719). Its most valuable card is Mew at $6,000.27.
How is a Pokémon set's value calculated?
Set value here is the sum of the near-mint market price of one copy of every card in the set, using each card's main printing. It does not include reverse holos or other extra printings, graded copies or sealed product, and cards without a recent market price are left out.
Is it cheaper to buy singles or open packs to complete a set?
For almost every set, buying the cards you are missing as singles costs less than opening packs until you pull them. Most of a set's value sits in a few chase cards with low pull rates, so pack opening mostly produces duplicates of commons and uncommons worth cents each.
